In this session, I taught how to sew the Vionnet bodice and facing.

I demonstrated the proper order of attaching the pattern pieces, matching notches, and handling the satin fabric carefully. I also showed how to attach the facing around the neckline and armholes.

Lesson Steps:

  • Laid out the pattern pieces in the correct order (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
  • Sewed pieces 2 and 3 together first, matching notches at corners
  • Attached the center front piece (1) to pieces 2 and 3
  • Pressed the seams and trimmed bulk at corners if needed
  • Attached the long satin piece (4) around the bust area, easing where required
  • Closed the neckline by attaching piece A, B, C and the center back
  • Attached the neck facing, leaving seam allowances open for zipper
  • Attached the armhole facings carefully
  • Prepared to attach the circle skirt next, starting from the center front
