In this session, I taught how to transfer the draped muslin pieces onto paper to create the pattern for the Vionnet dress bodice.
I demonstrated pinning the fabric carefully without stretching, separating the pieces, transferring markings, adding seam allowances, and creating facings for the neckline and armholes.
Lesson Steps:
- Pinned the draped muslin pieces onto paper without stretching the bias fabric
- Separated the pinned pieces one by one to transfer markings
- Transferred all markings like notches, apex, waist, etc. onto pattern paper
- Added seam allowances to each pattern piece
- Created facing patterns for the neckline and armholes by tracing 1″ away from edges
- Marked all notches, grainlines, and pattern information on the pieces
- Prepared to draft the skirt pattern in the next step
