In this session, I demonstrated how to sew the half-circle skirt for the Vionnet dress.

I explained that it’s crucial to attach the center skirt panel first before proceeding to the sides to ensure proper alignment and prevent stretching.

I taught the importance of starting from the center when attaching the half-circle skirt, sewing the center panel first, then working outwards to the sides. This method ensures proper alignment and prevents stretching the dress fabric.

Lesson Steps:

  • Attach the center skirt panel first by sewing from the center front to center back
  • Continue sewing one side of the skirt from center back to side seam
  • Repeat for the other side, sewing from center front to side seam
  • Double-check seam alignment and matching before proceeding
  • Prepare to attach the invisible zipper after the skirt is sewn

I emphasized the need to pay close attention when sewing the front triangle section to keep it centered and prevent the heavy skirt from dragging down the entire dress. For beginners, I recommended starting with a half-circle skirt before attempting a full circle due to the added weight and challenge.
