In this session, I taught how to drape the bias-cut Vionnet dress torso on the dress form.

I prepared the muslin pieces with bias lines marked, then started draping the center front section on the bias grain.

Lesson Steps:

  • Aligned the center front muslin piece on the bias, pinning it close to the body
  • Made slashes and adjustments around the bust area for a smooth fit
  • Marked seamlines, grainlines, and notches with a pencil
  • Draped the side front panel on the bias next, pinning and marking it
  • Continued draping the front skirt section, side back, and back pieces on the bias
  • Marked all seamlines, grainlines, notches, and labeled each piece
  • Will machine baste the draped pieces together to check the overall fit
