In this session, I taught a creative draping technique that involves creating a 3D form or creative fold on the fabric before draping it on the dress form. This simple yet effective method can produce beautiful drapes, with the final look varying depending on the fabric used.

Lesson Steps:

  • Take a flat piece of fabric and create a 3D form or creative fold on it
  • Drape the pre-folded fabric onto the dress form
  • Adjust and shape the draped fabric to achieve the desired design or detail
  • For the Brook Dress, I combined two different fabrics with contrasting textures and patterns on the front
  • The same draping technique can be applied with a single fabric for a simpler look
