In this session, I taught how to construct a dress with a facing and zipper installation.

I demonstrated attaching the front and back shoulders, followed by attaching the facing around the neckline and armholes. I also showed how to insert a separating zipper at the back and finish the neckline area neatly.

I started by attaching the front and back shoulder seams. Then, I pinned the facing around the neckline and armholes, leaving a small opening for finishing later. After stitching the facing, I turned the dress right side out and understitched the facing. For the zipper area, I folded the facing over the zipper tape and hand-stitched it for a clean finish.

Lesson Steps:

  • Attach front and back shoulder seams
  • Pin facing around neckline and armholes, leaving small openings
  • Stitch facing in place
  • Turn dress right side out and understitch facing
  • For zipper area, fold facing over zipper tape and hand-stitch for clean finish
  • Press facing and neckline area for a crisp look
