In this session, I taught how to finish the seams and construct the front and back pieces of a dress using French seams, bias binding, and darts.

I demonstrated the steps for a clean, professional finish suitable for high-end garments.

Lesson Steps:

  • Sewed a French seam on the front piece to enclose the seam allowances neatly
  • Pressed and finished the front neckline area, either binding or leaving open for facing
  • Closed and pressed the back darts
  • Applied bias binding strips to the center back seam and side seams of the back piece
  • Folded and pressed bias strips very thin (1/8 inch) for a delicate finish on fine fabrics
  • Bound the side seams of the front piece with bias strips
  • Prepared the back piece for inserting a zipper
