In this session, I taught how to construct pockets on a draped silk dress.

I demonstrated sewing French seams for the pocket bags and attaching them neatly to the side seams of the dress.

Lesson Steps:

  • Marked the pocket openings on the side seams of the dress
  • Cut pocket bag pieces and sewed French seams around them
  • Attached one side of the pocket bag to the side seam above the opening
  • Folded under the bottom edge of the pocket bag and topstitched to secure
  • Repeated for the other pocket on the opposite side seam
  • Pressed the finished pockets flat and neat
