In this session, I taught how to construct pockets on a draped silk dress.
I demonstrated sewing French seams for the pocket bags and attaching them neatly to the side seams of the dress.
Lesson Steps:
- Marked the pocket openings on the side seams of the dress
- Cut pocket bag pieces and sewed French seams around them
- Attached one side of the pocket bag to the side seam above the opening
- Folded under the bottom edge of the pocket bag and topstitched to secure
- Repeated for the other pocket on the opposite side seam
- Pressed the finished pockets flat and neat
