In this lesson, I taught how to turn a 90-degree draped skirt into a pattern. I demonstrated the process of transferring the draped design onto pattern paper, including how to true the lines, add crucial information, and create a finished pattern for both the front and back pieces of the skirt.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Separate the draped piece and mark the center line
  2. Transfer the draped design onto pattern paper
  3. Add crucial information and markings (e.g., stitch lines, fold lines)
  4. True the waistline and align the pieces
  5. Adjust and mark the hip line and hem line
  6. Create and true the back dart
  7. Blend and smooth the side seams and hemline
  8. Add seam allowances and notches
  9. Mark the straight grain and cross grain lines
  10. Finalize the pattern pieces for front and back

I emphasized the importance of making a sample and refining the pattern if needed, especially for professional use. I also discussed considerations for fabric choice, such as stretch direction, when using this pattern.
