In this lesson, I taught how to drape a panel dress on a larger size dress form with a unique shape. I demonstrated how to create an illusion of contouring the body using design lines and sectional draping techniques. The dress features a v-neck, no shoulder seam, and a fitted silhouette.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Prepare the dress form with design lines and padding
  2. Drape the front piece, including the v-neck and bust dart
  3. Drape the back piece, extending over the shoulder to the front
  4. Create the side panels (upper and lower sections)
  5. Mark and adjust all pieces, adding ease where necessary
  6. Pin pieces together and make final adjustments
  7. Transfer the draped muslin to pattern paper

Note: I emphasized the importance of marking reference points like bust, waist, and hip lines before draping, and provided tips on creating a fitted silhouette while allowing for movement.
