In this lesson, I taught how to create an asymmetric dart bodice pattern. I demonstrated how to transfer the draped muslin to paper, make necessary adjustments, and finalize the pattern. I also provided tips on how to use this pattern as a base for future designs.
Lesson Steps:
- Transfer the draped muslin to dot paper, aligning the center front
- Pin the muslin to the paper and trace the lines with a tracing wheel
- Remove the muslin and connect the traced marks to create the pattern
- Close the darts on the pattern and make adjustments
- Check and correct symmetry and measurements
- Finalize the armhole and neckline curves
- Add pattern information and markings
- Optionally add seam allowance or keep as a base sloper
I also shared some designer tips, such as taking pictures of inspiring designs and archiving them with their corresponding patterns for future use.
