In this lesson, I taught how to create a unique draped sleeve using a square fabric and pleating techniques. I demonstrated how to manipulate fabric to create interesting designs and transform them into a functional sleeve. This technique allows for creativity and customization in sleeve design.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Cut a 17×17 inch square fabric and mark the bias line
  2. Create pleats on the fabric, similar to a peg skirt
  3. Place the pleated fabric on the dress form and mark the armhole line
  4. Transfer the armhole markings to the fabric
  5. Match the pleated fabric to a sleeve pattern muslin
  6. Draw the sleeve pattern on paper, incorporating the pleats
  7. Add seam allowances and cut out the pattern
  8. Sew the pleats and close the sides of the sleeve
  9. Pin the finished sleeve to the dress form
  10. Try on the sleeve to check fit and appearance

I emphasized that this technique can be adapted to create various sleeve designs and encouraged experimentation with different fabrics and pleat sizes to achieve desired effects.
