In this lesson, I taught how to transfer a French dart drape to a paper pattern. I demonstrated the process of tracing the muslin piece onto dotted paper, marking key reference points, and refining the pattern with a ruler.

Lesson Steps:

  • Pin the muslin piece to dotted paper
  • Trace important lines and reference points with a tracing wheel
  • Remove pins and muslin carefully
  • Use a ruler to draw clean lines, ensuring 90-degree angles at corners
  • Mark the dart opening and position it about an inch away from the apex
  • Close the dart on the pattern
  • Add any necessary adjustments to the neckline and underarm
  • Add seam allowance and cut out the pattern

Remember, this creates a base pattern for a size 6 French dart bodice, which can be used as a starting point for further modifications.
