In this lesson, I taught how to create simple yet effective designs using basic geometric shapes like rectangles, triangles, and squares. I demonstrated how these shapes can be draped on a model or dress form to create various looks without complex pattern-making or alterations.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Start with a basic rectangular shape for a simple top
  2. Experiment with a triangle shape to create a tunic or dress with dolman sleeves
  3. Use a square shape to make a draped dress or top
  4. Pin and adjust the shapes on the dress form to create different silhouettes
  5. Add simple details like gathers, bands, or elastic to enhance the designs
  6. Play with sleeve lengths and necklines to create variety
  7. Explore different fabric choices, such as jersey or silk, for various effects
  8. Experiment with color blocking and seam placement for added interest
  9. Practice draping on a dress form to understand how the fabric moves and falls
  10. Try on the pieces yourself to see how they look and feel in motion
