In this lesson, I taught how to transfer a draped twist muslin into a pattern. I demonstrated the process of flattening the muslin, pinning it to dotted paper, and transferring the markings with a tracing wheel. I also showed how to true the pattern pieces and add necessary adjustments.
Lesson Steps:
- Carefully remove the draped muslin from the dress form
- Flatten the muslin pieces with a hot iron (no steam)
- Pin the flattened muslin to dotted paper
- Transfer markings using a tracing wheel
- Draw and clean up pattern lines (armhole, side seam, waistline, etc.)
- True the pattern pieces and make necessary adjustments
- Add ease and adjust for fabric stretch if needed
- Create facing pieces (optional)
- Add seam allowances
- Include pattern information (dress name, size, seam allowance, etc.)
- Consider hem and finishing options based on fabric choice
