In this lesson, I taught how to create unconventional dress styles using simple geometric shapes. I demonstrated how to push the boundaries of traditional dress patterns by manipulating rectangular shapes and adding unique elements like asymmetrical sleeves.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Measure the dress form for length and width
  2. Create a basic rectangular shape based on measurements
  3. Sketch unconventional dress designs by manipulating the rectangular shape
  4. Design an upside-down T-shaped dress
  5. Create a curved rectangular dress design
  6. Add an asymmetrical “elephant nose” sleeve to the curved dress
  7. Cut out the designed shapes for draping
