In this lesson, I taught how to drape an armhole princess bodice, which differs from the classic princess bodice. I demonstrated how to prepare the muslin, drape the front and back pieces, and create the side panels. I also explained the importance of adding ease and making adjustments for a proper fit.
Lesson Steps:
- Prepare a wider muslin piece with a folded center front
- Drape the front bodice piece, aligning with the center front
- Mark the apex, neck, shoulder, and armhole points
- Drape the front side piece, working around the bust and waistline
- Drape the back bodice piece, including a small dart at the shoulder
- Drape the back side piece, adding ease where necessary
- Mark all seam lines, notches, and reference points
- Fold and pin the pieces together, adjusting for fit
- Transfer markings and make final adjustments
- Review the completed armhole princess bodice
