In this lesson, I taught how to prepare to drape a princess line skirt, also known as a gore skirt. This foundation can be used to create various skirt styles with multiple panels. I explained how to prepare the muslin pieces for draping and discussed the importance of measuring and adding extra width to each panel.
Lesson Steps:
- Measure the largest area of each panel on the dress form
- Add 1 inch to the front panel and 2.5 inches to the sides of each panel
- Cut four muslin pieces for the skirt panels, about 20 inches in length
- Prepare a bridge piece if the dress form has a curved back area
- Measure and mark the muslin pieces according to the dress form’s measurements
- Ensure all pieces are ready for draping the princess seam skirt foundation
