In this lesson, I taught how to drape a full torso princess bodice that is very close-fitting. This sloper can be used as a base for various dress designs, resizing dress forms, or as an underlayer for padding. The focus was on creating a skin-tight fit, almost like a corset.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Prepare and cut muslin pieces for center front, center back, and two sides
  2. Mark straight grain lines and press center front/back pieces
  3. Begin draping with center front piece, aligning and pinning to dress form
  4. Shape and fit the center front piece, marking princess lines and key points
  5. Drape side front piece, aligning and fitting closely to the body
  6. Repeat process for center back and side back pieces
  7. Pin and adjust all pieces together, ensuring a very tight fit
  8. Mark all necessary lines (bust, waist, hip) and adjust fit as needed
  9. Close seams and make final adjustments for a skin-tight fit
  10. Review and mark any necessary changes with red pencil
