In this lesson, I taught how to create a basic raglan sleeve sloper. I demonstrated the process of transferring the pattern, refining the lines, and explained how this sloper can be used as a foundation for various design variations.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Transfer the raglan sleeve pattern using a tracing wheel
  2. Refine and clean up the transferred lines
  3. Soften the curves, especially around the neckline
  4. Connect the lines to the neck and center seam
  5. Identify the front, back, and neckline sections
  6. Separate the front and back pieces
  7. Add seam allowances to each piece
  8. Explain how to sew the pieces together
  9. Discuss potential design variations using the basic sloper

I emphasized that this raglan sleeve sloper serves as a versatile foundation for creative design play. I encouraged students to transfer the pattern to paper or fabric and experiment with different design elements, such as pleating around the neck, to create interesting looks.
