In this lesson, I taught how to sew geometric shapes to create unique garments. I demonstrated how to work with rectangular and triangular pieces to form sleeves, bodices, and necklines. The focus was on experimenting with shapes and assembly rather than perfect finishing.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Cut rectangular and triangular fabric pieces
  2. Mark center points and openings for neck and arms
  3. Sew rectangular pieces for the bodice and sleeves
  4. Attach sleeves to the bodice
  5. Sew triangular pieces for additional design elements
  6. Assemble the pieces, leaving appropriate openings
  7. Experiment with different combinations and shapes
  8. Try the garment on a dress form to assess fit and design

I emphasized the importance of exploration and creativity in this process, encouraging students to play with the shapes and not worry too much about perfect stitching at this stage. The goal was to discover original designs through experimentation with geometric forms.
