In this lesson, I taught how to cut and create the first geometric odd shape dress using an interlock jersey fabric. I demonstrated how to measure, fold, and cut the fabric to create an unconventional dress shape with rectangular elements.

Lesson Steps:

  • Select an interlock jersey fabric with minimal stretch
  • Measure and mark 17 inches from the center line on both sides
  • Fold the fabric from the top (shoulders) to create a wide bottom
  • Pin the fabric in place and mark the end lines
  • Measure 17 inches from the top for the rectangular section
  • Cut the fabric according to the marked lines
  • Decide on armhole openings and sewing points
  • Plan to sew only specific sections, leaving some parts open

This unique approach results in an interesting dress shape that doesn’t look conventional at first glance but has potential for a distinctive design.
