In this lesson, I taught how to create a pattern for a panel dress from muslin pieces. I demonstrated how to transfer the draping to paper, make necessary adjustments, and true the pattern pieces. I also explained the importance of adding ease, handling bias areas, and including essential information on pattern pieces.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Transfer muslin pieces to paper
  2. Add ease and make adjustments to pattern pieces
  3. True the pattern pieces (front, side panel, back)
  4. Add darts and notches
  5. Adjust neckline and shoulder areas
  6. Add seam allowances
  7. Include essential information on pattern pieces
  8. Cut out final pattern pieces

I emphasized the importance of keeping detailed notes and information on pattern pieces, especially for more complex designs. I also discussed how this panel dress pattern can be used as a sloper for creating variations in style and fit.
