In this lesson, I taught how to drape a curved French dart, a technique commonly used in couture. I demonstrated the process on a dress form, showing how to mark the curve, drape the muslin, and create the dart. This technique can be applied to various dart placements on the body.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Mark the desired curve on the dress form with tape
  2. Prepare and align muslin on the dress form
  3. Smooth and pin fabric around neckline, shoulder, and armhole
  4. Release tension and move excess fabric towards the curved line
  5. Cut and adjust fabric, giving seam allowance to the dart
  6. Readjust the curved line and smooth fabric
  7. Draw the new curved line and ease fabric as needed
  8. Fold and pin the dart together
  9. Remove from dress form and draw final lines
  10. Mark important points (shoulder, neckline, underarm, side seam, waistline, center front, apex)
  11. Add cross lines for reference
  12. Finalize the curved French dart front pattern
