In this lesson, I taught how to drape a Peter Pan collar, which can be adapted to various collar styles. I demonstrated the technique using a 13×13 inch muslin piece and showed how to shape, pin, and mark the collar on a dress form.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Prepare the muslin piece with markings and initial cuts
  2. Pin the muslin to the dress form at center back
  3. Mark shoulder point and make small cuts around the neck
  4. Remove from dress form and adjust the neckline
  5. Draw the collar shape on the muslin
  6. Transfer the pattern to paper and refine the lines
  7. Test the collar fit on the dress form
  8. Make any necessary adjustments to the pattern
  9. Cut the final pattern pieces (top fabric, lining, and interfacing)
  10. Sew the collar pieces together, ensuring proper roll and fit

Remember, the top shell should have a 1cm seam allowance, while the lining and interfacing should have a 1/4 inch seam allowance for a slight roll-in effect. This technique can be used to create various collar styles by adjusting the shape and curves.
