In this session, I introduced the anatomy of sleeves and explained why combining drafting and draping is the best method for creating sleeves. I taught how to prepare for sleeve pattern-making by gathering necessary tools and taking accurate measurements from the dress form and arm.

Lesson Steps:

1. Prepare a base bodice sloper and an arm form
2. Mark essential lines on the dress form (armhole, shoulder, side seam, chest line, back line)
3. Take and record key measurements:

  • Cap length (shoulder point to bicep)
  • Sleeve length (shoulder point to wrist)
  • Bicep to elbow length
  • Circumferences of bicep, elbow, and wrist (with ease)

4. Prepare pattern paper (longer than sleeve length, wider than bicep circumference)
5. Draw center line and mark sleeve length on pattern paper
6. Mark cap length on pattern paper
