In this lesson, I taught how to drape a peg skirt, a popular style from the 50s and 60s that’s making a comeback. I explained the characteristics of this close-fitting pencil skirt silhouette and introduced the muslin preparation process for draping.

Lesson Steps:

  • Cut muslin to approximately 80 cm (32 inches) long on the straight grain and 60 cm (24 inches) on the cross grain
  • Mark the hip line on the muslin as a reference point for balance
  • Measure and mark 20 cm from the waist to hip on the dress form, adding 8 cm extra
  • Press about an inch or half an inch along the center back line of the muslin
  • Prepare the muslin for draping by making necessary markings and pressing
