In this lesson, I taught how to drape a peg skirt, starting from the center back and moving towards the front. I demonstrated how to create the characteristic peg skirt shape by gathering and pleating excess fabric towards the front while keeping the back clean and fitted.

Lesson Steps:

  1. Prepare fabric and align with hip line and center back
  2. Pin fabric to dress form and create back darts
  3. Move to the front and shape the side seam
  4. Create pleats in the front to achieve the peg skirt shape
  5. Adjust and pin pleats to desired fullness
  6. Mark center front, hip line, and waistline
  7. Clean up and finalize the drape
  8. Mark different sections with colored pencils
  9. Remove drape from dress form to create pattern

I explained that this style is reminiscent of the 1950s but has been seen in recent designer collections. The peg skirt creates a relaxed and effortlessly chic look that’s both cute and feminine.
